I signed up to Le Marmotte in Jan-22 knowing it would require some focussed training with 109miles/175km and ~16,000 feet/5,000m of climbing, taking on Col du Glandon, Col du Telegraphe, Col du Galiber and Alpe d’Huez, it is not for the faint hearted so signed up with Velo Performance.

Before joining VPCC I treated every ride like a smash fest unless I was exhausted at the end of each ride, I believed I was not putting enough effort in. I would ache for days. I have learned that’s not the way that keeping the intensity focused around steady aerobic capacity building as well as getting stronger in the gym is the way forward.

The Marmotte was epic an epic day, confidently climbing the big hills and coming in 10hrs 6mins, happy with that : ) I got up the next day and although my body knew it had been called upon the previous day, I felt pretty good on my planned recovery spin.

Working with Simon at Velo Performance has truly helped me to become a better cyclist. I enjoy my cycling even more and rarely feel fatigued after a ride. I am now excited about taking my average cycling ability to a new average!
